Principles

1. Health Equity and Human Dignity

We affirm that access to health care is a human right. Aid Meridian is committed to enabling equitable medical support for individuals and communities facing systemic barriers, regardless of location, ethnicity, gender, or socioeconomic status.

2. Local Empowerment and Ethical Partnership

We support and amplify the work of qualified, community-trusted health organisations. Our role is to fund, not control—ensuring aid is delivered by those with local expertise and cultural insight, fostering dignity, trust, and sustainability.

3. Transparency and Donor Accountability

We uphold the highest standards of governance, compliance, and fiscal transparency. Our funding structures are audited, segregated, and donor-facing, ensuring every dollar supports mission-aligned, evidence-based outcomes.

4. Non-Operational Neutrality

As a non-operational and apolitical grantmaker, Aid Meridian avoids mission creep. We do not deploy staff or manage programs directly; instead, we focus on bridging support where it is needed most with clarity, humility, and strategic intent.

5. Respect for Sovereignty and Cultural Contexts

We work with integrity across diverse cultures and nations, respecting the autonomy and practices of local communities. Aid Meridian seeks to enhance—not overwrite—local systems of care.

6. Responsiveness to Medical Need

Our support is flexible and needs-driven. From maternal health and chronic disease to primary care and diagnostics, we adapt our grantmaking in response to verified need, as identified by partners and communities themselves.

7. Zero Tolerance for Corruption

In line with global standards (including UNGC Principle 10), Aid Meridian maintains zero tolerance for corruption, fraud, or misuse of funds. Our governance frameworks ensure robust due diligence, especially in overseas aid contexts.

8. Public Awareness and Shared Responsibility

Beyond funding, we foster public understanding of global and local health inequities. Through campaigns and events, we aim to build a culture of shared responsibility and informed giving within the communities we serve.

Our Purpose

(a) to advance health by funding the provision of medical aid, medicines, supplies, and related resources to individuals and communities experiencing sickness, disease, trauma or distress;

(b) to relieve the poverty, suffering and distress of people in need by supporting access to essential health services, health infrastructure, or humanitarian relief through qualified and independent implementing organisations;

(c) to promote disease prevention, health literacy and community wellbeing, particularly in communities at risk due to crisis, conflict, displacement, or systemic health disadvantage;

(d) to carry out the above purposes both within Australia and overseas, including through the company’s Aid Meridian Overseas Aid Fund, in compliance with the Overseas Aid Gift Deduction Scheme (OAGDS) administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade;

(e) to achieve these purposes by acting as a passive grantmaker only — the company does not presently deliver services or deploy aid workers, and fulfils its charitable purpose through the funding of qualified, independent implementing organisations. Any future operational activity will remain consistent with the company’s charitable purpose, legal obligations, and not-for-profit status;

(f) to ensure that all income and property of the company is applied solely towards the advancement of these purposes; and

(g) to refrain from engaging in political or religious advocacy, and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth), the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth), and the Overseas Aid Gift Deduction Scheme.

(h) to advance the protection of human dignity and the relief of human suffering by supporting, funding, or undertaking initiatives that address issues of exploitation, vulnerability, or other human rights concerns, in a manner consistent with applicable laws and humanitarian principles.
